This prayer rope is made with beads called “Tears of the Virgin Mary”. The beads are natural seeds harvested from a plant that first sprouted miraculously on the soil from the tears of the Virgin Mary while watching her Son, Jesus Chris, being crucified.
Years later, on Mount Athos, a monk was having difficulties making the knots on the traditional prayer rope. The Theotokos appeared and showed him how to plant, harvest, and use the seeds as beads for the making of prayer ropes. The plant has been since growing on Mount Athos.
The prayer rope has 50 praying knots (beads) and is finished with a rich wool tassel.
