The daughter of Praepextatus and Fausta, Saint Anastasia was brought up by her mother in the Faith of Christ. Briefly married, Saint Anastasia was widowed and thereafter went about secretly to the dwellings of the poor and the prisons to visit the Martyrs of Christ, bringing whatever was needed for their daily subsistence.

Because Saint Anastasia delivered so many of her beneficiaries from the ill effects of spells, potions and poisons, she has received the name "Deliverer from Potions". The blessed Saint was martyred by fire as a Witness of Christ during the Great Persecution of the Emperor Diocletian in the year 290 AD.
She suffered terrible tortures and humiliations for the sake of Christ, never once yielding to the torments of the pagans. She refused to renounce her faith, boldly clinging to God for deliverance. After many trials, including scourging, cutting out of her tongue, pulling out of her teeth and nails, whipping, and beating, she was beheaded.

Saint Anastasia the Roman is commemorated on October 29.
