At the Holy Monastery of Dochiariou on Mount Athos, Greece, the preparation of incense is preserved as a sacred craft, rooted in the memory and lived honoring of tradition. The Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of Dochiariou is one of the twenty monasteries of Mount Athos. Founded in the 11th century, it is dedicated to the Archangels Michael and Gabriel. It is the seventh oldest monastery of Mount Athos.
Of great significance is the icon of the Holy Virgin Mary Gorgoepikoos at the monastery. In the year 1664, the old wall hagiography of Panagia Gorgoepikoos outside the kitchen / refectory of the monastery worked a miracle for the monk Neilos.
